About Julie Gealer – Creator of Little Miss Bling Bling™ Jewelry
Little Miss Bling Bling™ is truly a story of “an avocation becoming a vocation.”  Growing up, I always had a passion for design, and I enjoyed creating things with my hands. I began making jewelry as a hobby, a pastime that grew out of a fascination with the exquisite colors and textures found in natural gems, crystals, and other found objects.

Soon friends and strangers alike were commenting on my jewelry, so I began selling what I was wearing. My designs got the attention of a Jewelry Manager at Nordstrom and I was asked to participate in a “trunk show”. The appeal and sales of my pieces continued to grow and demanded more of my time. With the support of family and friends, I decided to devote myself to the full time enterprise of designing and handcrafting a line of jewelry using Swarovski Austrian Crystal and gemstones.

On a trip to Italy in 2005, I became intrigued with Murano Glass. Made using centuries old methods, each bead is a one-of-a-kind work of art. Since 1291 Venetian Glass beads have been handmade in Venice on the Island of Murano. The beads are lampworked meticulously, one by one, in front of an open flame. Many of the beads have a center core of glass wrapped in 24K gold, white gold, or silver. The precious metals shine through the glass to give each bead a personality of its own. The Venetians also use what they call aventurina, a mixture of gold, silver, and copper to bring an added sparkle to many of their beads. These beads are unlike any other glass beads in the world.

The exotic colors, shapes and textures of the Murano glass beads were so amazing that I purchased a huge assortment. Upon returning to my studio in Irvine, California, I immediately began incorporating these gorgeous beads into my art.

I love creating beautiful jewelry. I love exploring and trying new things. I love combining handmade glass with natural stones and minerals to create a work of art that uniquely expresses the Little Miss Bling Bling™ collection, appealing to today’s modern woman while retaining the beauty and tradition of Italy’s storied past.

  1. I saw your beautiful display at the OC Philharmonic house. I was told that the heart shape necklaces are Murano glass. Is that true? In looking at your description in the Program, it says Murano glass beads. On your website, you do not say Murano glass hearts. Please enlighten me. Also please send prices for the items shown. Thank you. Rachel Chasin
